1. The University of Auckland E-learning Strategy

The University of Auckland has an elearning strategy which can be found on the Centre for Academic Development (CAD) website. The CAD is a central service unit dedicated to provide assistance to all staff and students at The University of Auckland during their academic career. The CAD have an Elearning Design and Development Group (ELDDG) consisting of an excellent bunch of people who have helped us out many a time.

The following actions from objective 9 should suffice to make it clear that technologies in teaching have a place in the university strategy.

  • Provide support for innovations in teaching and learning, particularly those that involve use of new technologies, and create communities of interest among faculty and service division staff and students that sustain and promote innovation
  • Enrich face-to-face teaching and learning by providing interactive on–line learning that draws on international best practice in e-learning.

3. University of Auckland Promotion Criteria

Staff at the UOA can use the link below to access the University's promotion criteria. Looking through the criteria for promotion it will become obvious that staff are rewarded for innovation in teaching - and this can include the use of technologies - and that publishing educational research is rewarded by the University. This means that you may want to consider engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning .
